The family of actor Tommy Lee Jones has asked for privacy after his daughter, Victoria Jones, was found dead early New Year’s Day at a San Francisco hotel.
“We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers,” the family said in a statement released Friday, Jan. 2. “Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.”
The statement was signed, “The Family of Victoria Kafka Jones.”
Victoria Jones, 34, was found unresponsive at the Fairmont San Francisco in the early hours of Thursday, Jan. 1. San Francisco police said officers responded to the hotel shortly after 3 a.m. to a report of a medical emergency. She was pronounced dead at the scene, and the case was referred to the city’s Medical Examiner.
Officials have not released a cause of death, but police said they do not suspect foul play.
Victoria Jones was the daughter of Academy Award-winning actor Tommy Lee Jones and his second wife, Kimberlea Cloughley. The couple, who divorced in 1996, also have a son, Austin Jones, 43.
She made several acting appearances as a child, including a role alongside her father in 2002’s “Men in Black II,” a part in his 2005 film “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada,” which he directed, and an appearance on the television series “One Tree Hill” in 2003.
In a 2006 interview with The New Yorker, Tommy Lee Jones spoke fondly of his daughter’s abilities, saying, “She’s a good actress, has her SAG card, speaks impeccable Spanish.”
Court records show that a woman identified as Victoria Jones was arrested several times in 2025 in Napa and Santa Cruz counties on misdemeanor charges.
In April, she was arrested in Napa County on charges including obstructing a peace officer, being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a narcotic controlled substance. The following month, she was arrested in Santa Cruz County on charges of resisting or obstructing a public officer and public intoxication. She was arrested again in June in Napa County on misdemeanor domestic battery charges and related allegations involving domestic violence or elder abuse.
Court records show she pleaded not guilty in the Napa County cases; it was not immediately clear how the other cases were resolved.
Two years before Victoria Jones was found dead, her father successfully petitioned a Marin County judge to place her under a temporary conservatorship, arguing in court filings that she was engaging in “life-threatening conduct” and needed drug rehabilitation.
A judge granted the request and appointed a temporary conservator for Jones’ person, but the case was dismissed months later at Tommy Lee Jones’ request. A Marin County judge terminated the conservatorship in December 2023, court records show.
A representative for the Fairmont San Francisco said hotel staff were “deeply saddened” by the incident.
“Our heartfelt condolences are with the family and loved ones during this very difficult time,” the representative said in a statement. “The hotel team is actively cooperating and supporting police authorities within the framework of the ongoing investigation.”
