Confessions of the suspect who kidnapped and dismembered the son of a Ukrainian crime boss in Bali; the victim uttered five heartbreaking words in a video pleading for help?
Indonesian police have confirmed that body parts found on a beach in Bali belong to a Ukrainian tourist who went missing after being abducted in mid-February, allegedly in connection with a multi-million dollar extortion plot.
According to information from several international news agencies, the victim was Igor Komarov (also spelled Ihor Komarov), 28 years old, a Ukrainian national. The victim’s identity was confirmed after authorities conducted forensic examinations and compared DNA samples with his mother’s.
The abduction occurred on February 15th while Komarov was riding a motorcycle with a friend in the Jimbaran resort area, in southern Bali, Indonesia. According to initial investigations, a group of people intercepted him, overpowered him, and forced him into a car. His friend managed to escape and later reported the incident to the police.
Following the incident, a video allegedly showing Komarov tied up and beaten surfaced on social media. In the video, the alleged victim is heard speaking in a panicked state, claiming he had been kidnapped and pleading with his family for help.

Those behind the camera allegedly demanded a ransom of up to $10 million from the victim’s family in exchange for his life. However, Indonesian authorities say they are still verifying the authenticity of the video.
On February 26-27, local residents discovered numerous human body parts washed ashore near Ketewel Beach and the Wos River estuary in Bali. The body parts, including heads, arms, legs, and torsos, were in an advanced state of decomposition.

Initially, police made a preliminary identification of the victim based on tattoos on his body before DNA test results confirmed it was Komarov.
According to Bali police, traces of the victim’s blood were also found at a villa in the Tabanan area, suspected to be the location where the kidnappers held Komarov captive.

Indonesian authorities have arrested a man suspected of involvement in the case, who is believed to have rented the vehicle used in the kidnapping. Based on the suspect’s confession, police have identified six other foreigners involved, who are currently wanted.
Interpol has been asked to issue international arrest warrants for the suspects to assist in the investigation.

According to some sources, Komarov’s father is believed to be an influential figure in the business world of Dnipro (Ukraine), so the kidnapping may have been for ransom. However, Indonesian police say the exact motive for the crime is still being investigated.
