The Golden Bachelorette star Guy Gansert’s vying for Joan Vassos’ tender heart, but his restraining order scandal is haunting him, pulling him back to a darker part of his life – does that incident make him a true villain? Maybe not. There’s more to Guy than one bad day, and he’s clearly taken accountability for the disturbing event. No one’s calling him an angel, but then again, maybe he is one sometimes. As an emergency room doctor, he saved lives. Probably a lot of lives. He eased suffering too.

In the reality TV realm, it’s simpler to slot people into a category – villain or hero. But what about the moral gray area? Is a person the worst they’ve done, or are they more than that? Is Guy worse than the controlling Chock Chapple? It’s hard to say. According to Guy, he was married for 34 years. That’s a very long time, and during a very emotional breakup, he lost it. He’s ashamed of that. Should that remorse be good enough, or should Guy be canceled for his sins? That is up to viewers, and to Joan.

Guy Gansert Is Sorry For What He Did

But He Does Have A Dark Side

People can be sorry, but it doesn’t change what they did. Guy and his ex-wife share four children, and they’ve gotten past their problems, but once upon a time, those issues were serious. They fought, and she alleged that her then-husband was aggressive. She asked for a temporary restraining order against him. She didn’t want his emails, texts or any kind of contact. She wanted a clean break.

At one point, she accused her ex of making a “gun” shape with his fingers, as though to “shoot” her, and considered the gesture threatening. Things were very, very bad. As per People, his ex said he:

“physically tried to threaten me.”

People who argue at this fever pitch should not be together – they’ve crossed the point of no return.

Right now, the exes are okay. They tried to get the court records sealed, and Guy says the restraining order was eventually dismissed. Of course, he’s trying to sound like a good person.

Guy Apologized For What He Did

He Didn’t Try To Deny It

Guy‘s post is long, detailed, and designed to soothe the angry haters. He’s worked as a doctor for decades, and he probably wants to salvage his reputation. He likely didn’t expect it to be ruined on a reality show. He discussed the duration of his marriage and talked about his kids. He was trying to explain that in his marriage, he was mostly good, not bad. It seemed like he didn’t want his divorce, as he called it a “low point” in his life.

Possibly, his heartbreak made him snap. The reasons why the divorce made him so unstable are unclear, but he is definitely sorry for what he did. Unlike some reality celebs, he’s not trying to deny wrongdoing. However, based on his post above, he did go way too far.

Guy isn’t necessarily a villain, but he isn’t Joan’s smartest pick either. While Chock could be considered possessive, he hasn’t done anything that Joan has had a problem with. She seems to like it when he sits close to her and shows his feelings so openly. The Golden Bachelorette should choose Chock just because Guy’s wife was afraid of him at one time. He may be different now, but just in case, she’s probably better off with Chock.
