The twin brother of Austin Metcalf, the teen fatally stabbed at a Texas high school track meet in 2025, addressed Karmelo Anthony after the latter was convicted of murder.
Anthony was convicted of murder on Tuesday, June 9, and sentenced to 35 years in prison for the 2025 stabbing of Metcalf in Frisco, Texas, according to WFAA and NBC 5. Both were 17 at the time of the incident.
Per a probable cause affidavit, Anthony stabbed Metcalf after being asked to move from under a tent.
After Anthony was found guilty of murder, Metcalf’s family, including his twin brother, spoke in court.
“You took a son, a brother, a friend, my best friend from this world,” Hunter Metcalf said, per CBS News. “You took someone away from me who was supposed to be an uncle to my kids … Now I want everything taken from you.”
Hunter reportedly continued by telling Anthony that he “let the devil take over in that moment.”
Anthony claimed that he had acted in self-defense following his arrest at the track meet.
After Anthony was asked to move, a witness told police that the teen responded by reaching into his backpack and saying, “Touch me and see what happens.”
Metcalf was subsequently stabbed in the chest.
