THE full timeline of Patrick Clancy’s steps on the day his children were strangled has been revealed after conspiracy theorists suggested he played a role in the fateful night.
Patrick, the now ex-husband of Lindsay Clancy, found his three children in the basement of their Massachusetts home with exercise bands around their necks.

Baseless theories surfaced as Lindsay’s murder trial kicked off, where social media users alleged Patrick played a role in the events that unfolded on January 24, 2023.
Lindsay has admitted to killing her children – five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan – strangling them with exercise bands in the basement of their home while Patrick was briefly out of the house.
Patrick was the first witness called to the stand in Lindsay’s murder trial, where she has pleaded not guilty and seeks an insanity defense that she was suffering from undiagnosed postpartum psychosis at the time of the killings.
Since his testimony, social media users alleged he had some sort of involvement, with one TikTok user saying “I do not believe that Lindsay Clancy committed these crimes. I fully believe that Patrick convinced her that she did.”
Patrick has not spoken publicly about the claims, but was likely ruled out as a suspect early on, Ken Corey, a former NYPD chief and current fellow at the Chicago Police Lab, told CNN.
“They’re only not going to be a suspect when there’s either compelling evidence that shows that they did not or could not have committed this crime, or that there’s compelling evidence showing that someone else actually did commit the crime,” Corey said.
Attorney Howard Cooper, who represents Patrick, said those kind of statements are false and defamatory when approached by CNN.
“The facts are indisputable: Patrick Clancy has suffered an unspeakable and unimaginable loss. Unfortunately, the tragedy Patrick has experienced has been compounded by patently false, defamatory, and injurious public statements.
“The individuals making those statements – from minor influencers to major celebrities – should be on notice that their despicable actions and false, defamatory statements have caused real life consequences to the health and safety of Patrick and his family.”
While on the witness stand, Patrick recalled what he did on January 24, 2023, where he started the day by staying at home with Dawson and Callan while Lindsay took Cora to a scheduled doctor’s appointment at 8am.
Patrick then texted Lindsay at 8:17am, sending a photo of Dawson because “he dressed himself completely for the first time,” he noted in his testimony.
Lindsay then sent a photo of Cora in a mask and gown at the doctor appointment, where Patrick replied, “Cutie,” according to testimony from Massachusetts State Police trooper and cell forensics expert Timothy Chiappini.

At 8:42am, Patrick asked Lindsay over text how the appointment was going, which she replied, “Good.”
“Okay. Her urine looked good, so nothing going wrong with her kidneys, phew,” Lindsay then responded.
“Good,” Patrick replied with a smiley face emoji. “You’re a good momma.”
Lindsay and Cora returned home around 8:30am, where Patrick then began getting ready for work.
Patrick had been working for Microsoft at the time, working remotely from a home office in the basement.
Lindsay and Patrick texted throughout the day, where Lindsay sent him a picture of a snowman she and the kids built in the backyard.
Patrick recalled work had been busier than usual that day and that he came upstairs once or twice to say “Hello” to everyone.
At 4:53pm, Lindsay texted Patrick about dinner, “Any chance you want to do takeout from ThreeV … I didn’t cook … anything … It’s been a long day.”

“Yeah,” her then-husband replied.
“Okie dokie,” she said. “Check the menu.”
Patrick then asked if Callan had gotten up for a nap and what Lindsay was thinking of getting from ThreeV, a local restaurant in Plymouth that the family had visited a few times.
Lindsay said their youngest child was awake and had taken a “short nap.”
“Oh, okay,” Patrick replied at 5:06pm, and a minute later Lindsay said she was going to order the Mediterranean power bowl from ThreeV.
“Okay. I’ll do scallop and pork belly risotto,” Patrick said.
Lindsay called in the order, and Patrick recalled coming up from his office to say goodbye before leaving.
“I came upstairs, I took Callan for a minute and I rocked him by my knees, kissed Cora on the head and said, ‘be right back,’” Patrick said in his testimony, which was the last time he saw his kids alive.
He recalled seeing their middle child Dawson eating chicken nuggets on the couch, and said Lindsay’s demeanor appeared “normal” as she held Callan while standing near the basement door.
Lindsay also asked Patrick to pick up stool softener for Cora, per her pediatrician’s recommendation for her stomach troubles.
Patrick said he asked Lindsay to text him what kind, and she asked him to grab Pedia-lax liquid stool softener.
Patrick was questioned by Lindsay’s defense attorney Kevin Reddington about an email sent from his laptop at 5:24pm, which would have been after Patrick left the house.
While on the stand, Patrick said he did not recall whether the email was sent from his phone or laptop, and it was not brought up again.
Patrick went to a CVS in Kingston, Massachusetts first around 5:32pm, going to the pediatrics area to pick up the laxative.
Patrick said he called Lindsay to ask if a different brand of stool softener would work because the shelves were empty.
Lindsay didn’t answer, but called back a minute later, where the two spoke for 14 seconds.

“She was pretty quiet, it sounded like she was busy. I remember hanging up, thinking she’s probably in the middle of giving baths or something like that,” he said of the phone call.
He then grabbed the laxative and picked up a package of Skittles and heading to pickup takeout.
Patrick was seen on surveillance footage entering ThreeV, roughly twenty minutes later, where he picked up the food and drove home.
He parked in the driveway and came home to an unusually quiet house, calling out to his family before opening the basement door and yelling down, getting no response.

Patrick called Lindsay at 6:09pm to see if she was home, and then went upstairs to check the bathroom thinking the kids may have been getting a bath.
He then checked the kids’ rooms and went to his and Lindsay’s room where he found the door locked.
Once he opened the bedroom door, he recalled seeing “blood everywhere,” the window open and the bed moved.
“I ran downstairs and went outside … out the back door,” he said, adding he then found Lindsay face up in the backyard.

He noticed “deep cuts” on her wrists and a red line across her neck, and asked Lindsay what happened, where she told him she tried to kill herself.
Patrick called 911, and asked Lindsay where the kids were, which she replied in the basement.
Once first responders arrived, Patrick went into the basement, where he found Cora on the ground, face down with an exercise band around her neck.
“I immediately ran over and tried to take the band off,” he said, adding he was able to get it off Cora.

He then found Callan next to Cora in the same position and took the band off of him.
Patrick then found Dawson in the home office on the other side of the basement in the same manner, telling the court, “I knew he was going.”
Patrick said he went back and forth between each child, and tried giving Cora CPR before first responders took over.
Patrick’s 911 call was not broadcasted, but those inside the courtroom described his screams as primal.
Brian Josephine, an officer with the Duxbury Police Department, recalled hearing Patrick’s “loud screams” from inside the house.
He said when he interacted with Patrick in the kitchen later he was frantic, “still screaming and losing himself.”
Cops on the scene then requested an ambulance for Patrick, Josephine testified.
In the years since, Patrick relocated to New York City and remarried.
Closing arguments are expected to come in Lindsay’s trial on Tuesday, and the jury will have to determine if she was criminally responsible for killing her three children.
If found not guilty, Lindsay will be committed to a state mental health facility, but if she is found guilty she faces life in prison without parole.
