CHAOS erupted in Lindsay Clancy’s murder trial on Monday as her lawyer demanded a mistrial and an angry judge blasted testimony that dragged the accused mom’s Catholic faith back into the case.
Defense attorney Kevin Reddington made the dramatic bid after prosecution psychologist Dr Kirk Heilbrun testified that he had questioned Clancy about suicide being considered a “mortal sin.”

Judge William Sullivan swiftly sent jurors out of Plymouth Superior Court in Massachusetts as the lawyers battled over the explosive religious reference.
“How is any of that proper at this point?” Sullivan demanded before ultimately denying Reddington’s motion for a mistrial.
The judge instead called jurors back and warned them that “the religion that the defendant was raised with” was irrelevant and that they must disregard that part of Heilbrun’s testimony.
Sullivan then sent the jury home for the day, bringing Monday’s proceedings to an abrupt end as the blockbuster trial entered its fifth and potentially final week.
Clancy’s lawyer broke his silence on the motion in an interview with The U.S. Sun outside the courtroom shortly afterward.
The showdown was particularly explosive because religion had already caused controversy in the trial when prosecutor Shanan Buckingham asked Clancy’s former mother-in-law whether she knew murder was considered a “mortal sin.”
Sullivan struck that question and told jurors to ignore it.
Closing arguments could come as early as Tuesday after nearly a month of emotional testimony over whether the mom-of-three was criminally responsible when she strangled her children
