(NewsNation) — One of the four adults charged in a southeastern Ohio child abuse case is set to appear in court this week for a separate case.
Gary Siders Jr. is scheduled to appear in Vinton County Court on Thursday in McArthur for a pre-trial hearing regarding the indecent exposure charges, according to NewsNation affiliate local WCMH.
Gary Siders Jr. is also one of four adults — Gary Siders Sr., Christina Siders and Elizabeth Siders — who face felony child endangerment charges after 16 kids were found living in squalid conditions inside a home in Hamden, Ohio. Law enforcement identified them as the children’s parents and grandparents.
They have all been assigned lawyers and await future court hearings, which are not yet scheduled,” WCMH reported, citing Vinton County records. Gary Siders Sr.’s attorney, Dorian Baum, said he did not meet with his client last week or over the weekend due to the federal holiday but believes there will be a grand jury hearing in mid-July.
Some of the children discovered were unable to speak, and one — an 18-year-old who was developmentally disabled — could not even write her name, investigators said.
Authorities found them while carrying out a search warrant in an unrelated investigation. Officials said it seemed as if no one outside the family knew about the children, who weren’t enrolled in school.

The children ranged in age from 1 1/2 years to 18 years old and included both boys and girls, officials said. Seven were transported to hospitals in Columbus, and two were flown by helicopter. One was in critical condition last Tuesday, while some of the others were admitted for care, Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson said.
The four adults appeared in court last Wednesday, where a judge entered not guilty pleas on their behalf and set bond at $300,000 for each.
