A 26-year-old man who was last seen in Grand Canyon National Park remains missing, but his backpack has been found.

Sandarsh Krishna was last seen hiking along the Rim Trail between Bright Angel Lodge and Mohave Point between 4:00 p.m. local time on Monday, April 27, and midnight on Tuesday, April 28, park officials said in a previous press release.

Around 7 a.m. on April 28, a black backpack that officials believe Krishna was in possession of before his disappearance was “turned in to hotel personnel at Bright Angel Lodge,” officials said in an updated statement released on Friday, May 1.

“Investigators are seeking to identify and speak with the individual who turned the backpack in to lodge staff, as they may have information relevant to the investigation,” National Park Service rangers added.

The individual who turned in the backpack is not considered a suspect, they added.

Park rangers released an image of the individual who turned in the backpack, who was seen wearing a green jacket and black gloves.
