HORN ISLAND, Miss. (WLOX) — Authorities are searching for 18-year-old Nolan Xavier Wells, who was last seen Saturday, July 4, around 3 p.m. on Horn Island, according to Jackson County Sheriff John Ledbetter.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is currently searching Horn Island with assistance from the Department of Marine Resources, the Gulf Islands National Seashore and the U.S. Coast Guard.
Nolan is described as an 18-year-old Black male, approximately 6-foot-1, weighing 180 pounds. Officials say he was last seen on Horn Island wearing blue swim trunks — not black as previously mentioned — with sunglasses and no shirt.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department said it has not verified if Nolan is currently on Horn Island.
The United Cajun Navy is also assisting in the search, currently focusing on Wells’ last known location on the east end of Horn Island, according to incident commander Josh Gill.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department established a command post at the Lake Mars Boat Launch, located at 1200 Lake Mars Ave, Ocean Springs MS 39564.
This is an active investigation. Anyone who talked to Nolan at Horn Island Saturday and has not contacted law enforcement should contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department at 228-769-3063. The department said any information may be the key to establishing Nolan’s last known location.
