A retired Air Force general who supervised billions in defense research went missing a month after Nancy Guthrie
A retired Air Force general who supervised billions in defense research has disappeared in New Mexico, prompting comparisons to the Nancy Guthrie case.
Major General William Neil McCasland, 68, was last observed on the morning of February 27 near Quail Run Court in Albuquerque. The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office released a Silver Alert for the missing retiree and has requested public assistance in finding him.
The disappearance has sparked online comparisons to the recent vanishing of Nancy Guthrie, NBC’s Savannah Guthrie’s mother, who went missing in the same area of the US. Authorities have not suggested any link between the cases. It comes as shocking new images from the night of Nancy’s abduction were discovered.

McCasland, a former commander of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio and the Phillips Research Site at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico, is a distinguished officer who oversaw some of the military’s most classified technology programs.
“Due to his medical issues, law enforcement is concerned for his safety,” a sheriff’s office statement said, reports the Mirror US.
The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is heading the investigation, with the FBI offering assistance.
