Patrick Clancy, the ex-husband of Massachusetts mother Lindsay Clancy, became emotional while describing his three children on the witness stand during his ex’s murder trial.

Lindsay Clancy is charged with the murders of their three young children — Cora, 5, Dawson, 3, and 8-month-old Callan — who were killed in January 2023.

Lindsay, 36, who is partially paralyzed after an apparent suicide attempt, does not dispute killing the children but contends that it was the result of postpartum psychosis and that she is not guilty by reason of insanity.

The first day of Lindsay’s trial began Monday, July 27, in a Massachusetts courtroom and was streamed live by Court TV.

The commonwealth’s first witness was Patrick, Lindsay’s husband at the time of their children’s deaths.

When asked to talk about his young children and what they were like before their deaths, he appeared to choke back tears while breathing heavily.

On Jan. 24, 2023, Lindsay asked her then-husband to pick up takeout food and a prescription, then used exercise bands to strangle the couple’s three children inside their Duxbury, Mass., home, prosecutors allege.

Prosecutors began laying out their case that Lindsay is guilty of first-degree murder in court Monday.
