Bali police have identified the body found in the Wos River as Igor Komarov, a Ukrainian tourist who was abducted in February. The group of seven foreign suspects are currently wanted by Interpol.
On March 6, Bali police officially confirmed that body parts found on the beach and in the estuary area belonged to Igor Komarov, a 28-year-old Ukrainian tourist. The victim, the son of a Ukrainian businessman, was reportedly kidnapped in a failed ransom attempt in mid-February.
According to the CBS forensic report, Komarov’s identity was determined through DNA testing compared with samples from the victim’s mother. Additionally, forensic experts discovered several distinctive tattoos on the body that matched his identifying characteristics before his death.

The events surrounding the kidnapping and the subsequent investigation.
The incident began on February 15th in Jimbaran, a popular seaside resort in Bali. While traveling on a motorbike with a friend, Komarov was stopped by a group of people in multiple cars who forced him into their vehicles. GPS data from the vehicles involved showed that the victim was taken to a villa in Tabanan, on the west coast of Bali, before being murdered.
During the time the victim was missing, a video circulated on social media showing Komarov pleading with his family to pay a $10 million ransom. Bali police are currently working to verify the authenticity of this video and the exact motives of the perpetrators.
On February 27, authorities discovered several severely decomposed body parts at the mouth of the Wos River, southeast of Bali, about 30 km from the detention site in Tabanan.

International suspects wanted.
Investigators have arrested a foreigner accused of using a fake passport to rent a vehicle for the kidnapping. Based on this testimony, the identities of six other suspects, all foreigners, have been determined. However, four of them have already left Indonesia by air, while the remaining two are suspected to still be at large within the country.
Currently, all suspects have been placed on Indonesia’s wanted list and Interpol has issued red notices. Bali police spokesperson Ariasandy said the group operated very sophisticatedly, possessing two to three different passports, making international identity verification difficult.
Notably, Komarov was traveling to Bali with his girlfriend, Yea Mishalova, a major influencer on Instagram. According to investigative sources, the couple’s public posting of their location on Valentine’s Day may have inadvertently made them a target for the kidnappers.
