As the search for Nancy Guthrie heads into its second week, the public has become increasingly curious about her whereabouts, whether or not she’s okay, and who might be behind her disappearance.
On Monday, Feb. 9, PCSD shared a new update on the case.
“New statement from Pima Sheriff says they are following up on new leads and we can expect to see an active law enforcement presence at Guthrie residences,” NewsNation’s Brian Entin wrote on X. Entin has been covering the case live from Tucson, moving back and forth between Nancy’s home and the home of her daughter, Annie Guthrie, who lives about four miles away.
“I have not noticed anything at Nancy or Annie’s house today,” Entin added.
The latest update comes just hours after Savannah shared an emotional post on Instagram, asking the public for help.

“Hi there, everybody. I wanted to come on and just share a few thoughts as we enter into another week of this nightmare,” Savannah said before thanking everyone for their ongoing prayers.
“We believe our mom is still out there. We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock, trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken, and we don’t know where. And we need your help,” she continued, adding, “So I’m coming on just to ask you, not just for your prayers but, no matter where you are, even if you’re far from Tucson, if you see anything, if you hear anything, if there’s anything at all that seems strange to you, that you report to law enforcement. We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help.”
The Guthrie family had a ransom deadline for $6 million in Bitcoin that came and went on Monday, Feb. 9. It’s unknown what the next steps will be.
Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, 84, remains missing nine days after the abduction from her Tucson, Ariz., home—and a retired FBI agent recently speculated about a small detail in the ransom note.
On Feb. 8, retired FBI agent Michael Harrigan spoke with the New York Post about the ongoing search for Nancy. He commented on one of the ransom notes, which has a deadline of 5 p.m. Feb. 9, specifying that $6 million should be paid in U.S. dollars.
“If you’re domestic, why would you ever put ‘USD?’ You put 6 million,” Harrigan pointed out.
“Why would you use that if you’re a domestic person?” he continued. “That points to somebody who might be potentially outside the country.” That tiny detail, Harrigan, argued, “lends the potential for this being a scam.”
On Saturday, Feb. 7, Savannah and her siblings, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, released another chilling video in an attempt to communicate with Nancy’s captor. In it, Savannah vowed, “We will pay.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) has been searching for Nancy since Feb. 1; she was last seen on the evening of Saturday, Jan. 31, at her home. Ultimately, the PCSD declared her Tucson residence a crime scene, determining that she had been “taken” from her residence “against her will.” Law enforcement also confirmed that the blood discovered at Nancy’s home belonged to her.
Investigators have since returned to Savannah’s mom’s home several times to collect evidence. A video of a vehicle of interest was submitted to law enforcement, in addition to agents finding a camera on the roof of Nancy’s home. Most recently, an agent was spotted with a “silver briefcase” while entering the residence. The FBI also made a strategic move across several states as the search continues.
Nancy has still not been found following the surfacing of multiple alleged ransom notes and her family sending several public video messages to the captors.
Those with any information about Nancy’s missing case are advised to contact the FBI tip line at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
