The son of a Ukrainian crime figure has allegedly been kidnapped in Bali, with a chilling $10 million ransom video surfacing days after his disappearance and raising suspicions of Russian involvement.
Igor Komarov, 28, a Ukrainian national, went missing while holidaying on the Indonesian island. Local outlets have described him as the son of a Kramatorsk crime figure nicknamed “Komar”.
In the days following his disappearance, a disturbing ransom video emerged showing Komarov battered and bruised as he appeared to read from a prepared statement. In the footage, he pleads with his mother to hand over $10 million.

“Mum, Mum – I beg you, please help me. We stole those $10 million they’re asking you for. Give them back those $10 million. Please,” he says.
He continues: “They’ve already chopped off some of my limbs. My legs are already broken, my ribs are broken, my rib cage is punctured.”
Forensic experts estimate that dismembered remains discovered near the Wos River estuary are around three days old. However, authorities have not officially confirmed that the body parts belong to Komarov. DNA tests are now underway, with Bali Police working alongside the Ukrainian consulate. Officers have taken a DNA sample from Komarov’s mother for comparison.
A 28-year-old Ukrainian tourist had been travelling in Bali with his girlfriend, Ukrainian lifestyle influencer Yeva Mishalova, 25, and a friend when the alleged abduction occurred. Authorities believe images shared on social media during the trip may have inadvertently revealed their location.

Police were first alerted to the suspected attack by a friend who reportedly managed to escape. The friend has been named as Alexander “Yermak” Petrovsky, reportedly the son of a Dnipro-based crime boss known as “Narik”.
CCTV footage and GPS data later led investigators to a villa in Tabanan regency, where officers reportedly discovered bloodstains matching those found inside one of the rented vehicles. Detectives believe Komarov was held against his will and assaulted at the property.
Bali Police have named seven foreign nationals as suspects in the case. According to The News International, police spokesperson Senior Commissioner Ariasandy said officers initially detained a foreign national identified only as “CH” in West Nusa Tenggara.
“Initially, we secured one foreign national with the initials CH, who rented vehicles using a false passport,” Ariasandy said in Denpasar. “Following further investigation, we named six other foreign nationals as suspects: RM, BK, AS, VN, SM and DH. All are men.”
The prime suspect, “CH”, allegedly attempted to flee using a false passport and had rented vehicles linked to the kidnapping. Police believe a black Toyota and two motorcycles were used in snatching Komarov.
Six additional suspects, identified by the initials RM, BK, AS, VN, SM and DH, have reportedly gone to ground. Investigators believe they are part of a “transnational criminal network”, which is also said to include a unit from Russia’s Chechnya region.

Police say four suspects fled via Bali’s international airport, while two are believed to remain on the island. An operation orchestrated by Interpol is now underway to locate them.
Authorities have not confirmed whether Komarov is alive, and the identity of the recovered remains has yet to be formally established as investigations continue.
