[UNFORGIVABLE BETRAYAL] Virgin River’s Detective Mike Will Arrest Preacher For Murder To Hide His Own Corrupt Crimes!
Preacher has always been the fiercely loyal protector of Virgin River, but his unwavering loyalty is about to cost him his freedom. We already suspect Detective Mike Valenzuela is hiding a dark past, but Season 8 will see him cross the ultimate line, turning the town’s beloved chef into a scapegoat.
The Scapegoat The buried body of Wes (Paige’s abusive ex-husband) is the ticking time bomb of the series. As the official LAPD investigation heats up, the walls start closing in on Mike’s own illegal cartel activities. Mike desperately needs a major distraction to satisfy his superiors and keep them from looking too closely at his own dirty badge.

The Arrest Instead of protecting his fellow veteran, Mike decides to use the Wes case to his advantage. In a shocking twist, Mike manipulates the forensic evidence to pin the murder entirely on Preacher. The most heartbreaking scene of the season will allegedly feature Mike walking into Jack’s Bar during a busy shift and publicly arresting Preacher, slapping handcuffs on the innocent man who trusted him the most.
💬 WE ARE FURIOUS: Are you ready to completely cancel Mike? Will Preacher actually go to prison for a crime he helped cover up to protect Paige? Let out your anger in the comments, and check the pinned link to see the leaked arrest photos! 👇
‘Virgin River’ Fans, You’re Going to Be Majorly Surprised About This News
Is ‘Virgin River’ Coming Back in 2026?Netflix
(Netflix)
This story contains spoilers from Virgin River season 7.
Season 7 of Virgin River may have aired a few weeks ago, but there are so many questions we need answered.
The latest installment of the hit drama dropped on Netflix in March, and everyone was excited to see what was happening with their favorite characters. With Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) and Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson) looking to expand their family, Brie Sheridan (Zibby Allen) figuring out her romance with Dan Brady (Ben Hollingsworth), and Hope McCrea (Annette O’Toole) struggling in her marriage with Vernon “Doc” Mullins (Tim Matheson), there’s a lot to explore.
So, viewers are likely interested in when new episodes will premiere.
Will there be a new season of Virgin River in 2026?
As of right now, Virgin River will not return with new episodes in 2026.
Despite what seems like a bit of bad news, don’t lose hope just yet! Tim recently gave the best Instagram update, and it turns out Virgin River is officially in production for season 8.
“And just like that, we’re officially back on set filming season 8 of #VirginRiver!” he wrote in the caption on April 22. “Here’s a little behind-the-scenes from season 7… we have a lot of fun behind those cameras, and I think that’s part of what makes the town feel so real 🙏🏻.”
Naturally, Tim’s announcement about Virgin River had fans in the comments hyped up.
“Happy filming! We love what you guys churn out for the fans. ❤️❤️❤️,” one person wrote. “I’m so happy that you’re going to shoot season 8 soon!! These shooting photos are too beautiful 💖✨,” another agreed. “Cannot wait!! Best show ever ❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥,” a different follower added.
But fans should note that Virgin River may look a little different when season 8 eventually airs on Netflix. Mainly, a casting shakeup occurred at the end of season 7, with Marco Grazzini (Mike Valenzuela) and Lauren Hammersley (Charmaine Roberts) both exiting the show ahead of the new season.
No matter the case, we’ll be counting down the days to see what Virgin River has in store!
