Lindsey Vonn’s Father Reveals Bold Vision for Her Skiing Career

In a recent interview, Lindsey Vonn’s father, Alan Kildow, revealed a bold vision for her skiing career. He stated unequivocally that Vonn will retire from competitive skiing, influenced by her recent injuries. At 41, Kildow believes her career has come to an end, particularly following a severe downhill crash in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy.
Lindsey Vonn’s Injury and Career Conclusion
Vonn sustained a complex tibia fracture and is currently being treated in a Treviso hospital. Following the accident, her family has been closely involved in her care. Kildow commented on his daughter’s resilience, noting that she is handling her situation remarkably well despite the physical challenges.
Family Support During Recovery
Lindsey Vonn’s brother and two sisters are by her side at the hospital.
Alan Kildow has been staying overnight with her, ensuring she has constant support.
The family experienced shock while witnessing the accident unfold from the finish area.
Kildow emphasized his daughter’s strength and ability to cope with pain. “She knows physical pain and understands her circumstances,” he said. He also praised the quality of medical care Vonn is receiving, thanks to the U.S. Ski Team and the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee.
Impact of the Injury
Despite tearing her ACL just nine days prior to the incident, Kildow clarified that Vonn’s crash stemmed from her pushing the limits of performance rather than her previous injury. He explained that she had been cleared to race after demonstrating her capability in training.
Vonn’s Historic Career
Lindsey Vonn’s skiing career includes impressive accomplishments, such as winning 84 World Cup races, making her the second on the all-time women’s list. She holds the record for 12 World Cup victories in Cortina. Kildow reminisced about her return to skiing last season after nearly six years of retirement, calling it extraordinary.
Final Decision on the Olympics
Alan Kildow has firmly stated that Vonn will not participate in any capacity at the upcoming Winter Olympics. He indicated that there would be no return for her, even to support teammates. They both agree that it is best for her to focus on recovery and moving forward after a remarkable career.
TV Icon Sends Emotional Message to Lindsey Vonn After Winter Olympics Crash
Love continues to pour in for American ski legend Lindsey Vonn after she got ruled out of Winter Olympics due to a scary accident during race.
Lindsey Vonn will no longer be able to compete in alpine ski racing at the Winter Olympics, but the support she is receiving continues to grow.
The American alpine ski racer was involved in an accident during the weekend’s downhill event and had to be airlifted from the venue. She later confirmed that she suffered a complex tibia fracture as a result of the hard fall but is now in stable condition.
Support poured in for the American legend, and the latest to send her a heartfelt message was Emmy and Golden Globe winner Mariska Hargitay, best known for her starring role in the TV series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
Hargitay wrote a poem for Vonn and posted it on Instagram.
“You are standing on the podium of everything that matters,” one line from the poem reads.

Other TV celebrities commented on Hargitay’s post, including her co-star Danny Pino and Suits actress Sara Rafferty.
Vonn returned the warm message by commenting on the actress’ post, “Love you so much ❤️🙏🏻🥹.”
Hargitay has been actively cheering for her close friend in the lead-up to the 2026 Winter Olympics. The actress posted a photo of herself skiing and gave Vonn a shoutout five weeks ago. She also shared three additional photos as messages of support on the day of the race featuring the letters BELV or “Believe.”
Vonn has already proven herself on every stage, winning one gold and two bronze medals at the Olympics, as well as two gold medals at the World Championships.
Although Vonn did not finish the event, she remains in good spirits and emphasized that she has no regrets.
“I hope if you take away anything from my journey it’s that you all have the courage to dare greatly. Life is too short not to take chances on yourself. Because the only failure in life is not trying,” she wrote in her first Instagram post since the accident.
