Maldives tightens rules on technical diving after five Italians die in cave

The Maldives government is preparing stricter rules for technical underwater diving, following the tragedy in which five Italian divers lost their lives in a cave more than 60 meters below the sea surface.

The news was confirmed by the spokesman for the President’s Office, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, who stated that the authorities intend to tighten control over the activity known as “tech-wreck diving”, which involves exploring shipwrecks, tunnels and underwater caves at great depths.
