Brooklyn Beckham is addressing a longstanding rumor about his 2022 wedding to Nicola Peltz Beckham.

After a source told PEOPLE in May 2025 that there were “tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and the family” that began after Victoria Beckham allegedly declined to make Nicola’s wedding dress, Brooklyn claims his mother canceled on Nicola “at the eleventh hour.”

Brooklyn made the claim in a bombshell Instagram Stories post on Monday, Jan. 19, in which he broke his silence on his estrangement from his parents.

“My parents have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped,” Brooklyn wrote. “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour, despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.”

A rep for David and Victoria did not respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

Brooklyn and his wife tied the knot at her parents’ Palm Beach estate in April 2022. Nicola wore a custom Valentino Haute Couture gown for the ceremony, telling Vogue at the time, “it was a no-brainer” to go with the fashion house.

Speaking with Variety for a November 2022 feature story about Brooklyn, Nicola denied rumors of a feud with her mother-in-law over the dress situation.

“I was going to [wear Victoria Beckham] and I really wanted to, and then a few months down the line, she realized that her atelier couldn’t do it, so then I had to pick another dress,” said Nicola. “She didn’t say you can’t wear it; I didn’t say I didn’t want to wear it. That’s where it started, and then they ran with that.”

Brooklyn would also deny the feud rumors, telling the outlet, “I’ve learned they’re always going to try to write stuff like that. They’re always going to try and put people down. But everyone gets along, which is good.”

In May 2025, however, a family insider told PEOPLE that Victoria did tell Nicola she was going to make her wedding dress, but allegedly later called Nicola’s mother to say she wouldn’t be making the dress after all.

“Nicola was painted as a brat for not wearing Victoria Beckham at the wedding,” said the insider, noting that Nicola had worn Victoria’s designs to many events. “She’d gone to a ton of Victoria Beckham fashion shows and events in Victoria’s clothing. She even wore Victoria Beckham to her Lola movie premiere.”

Brooklyn made further allegations about his parents’ impact on his wedding day, claiming that they attempted to bribe him into “signing away the rights” to his name ahead of the big day.

Rumors of the tensions between Brooklyn and Nicola and his parents have swirled for months. Following Brooklyn and Nicola’s notable absence from David’s 50th birthday celebrations in 2025, a source close to the family told PEOPLE, “The relationship is definitely not beyond repair.”

David, 50, and Victoria “love and are always there for [Brooklyn],” the insider said at the time. “They’re just hurt and disappointed that he’s now playing no part in family life.”

In January, a source with knowledge of the situation told PEOPLE earlier this month, “David and Victoria have repeatedly asked Brooklyn and Nicola to meet and talk in order to move forward.”

“David loves his kids,” the insider said of Brooklyn and his younger siblings Romeo, 23, and Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 14. “They are his everything.”
