Michael McKee’s defense attorney, Diane Menashe, also defended Dr. William Husel.
Here’s that story:

William Scott Husel was an intensive care physician who became the focus of a high-profile criminal investigation after allegations surfaced that he prescribed unusually high doses of fentanyl to terminally ill patients at Mount Carmel West and St. Ann’s Hospitals in Columbus, Ohio. Between 2015 and 2018, hospital officials linked Husel to 34 patient deaths and later accused him of hastening deaths through excessive medication, though authorities ultimately pursued criminal charges in only 14 cases.

Husel was arrested in June 2019 and charged with multiple counts of murder, while prosecutors argued the dosages went beyond accepted palliative care and directly caused patient deaths.
His defense maintained the medications were intended for comfort care at the end of life and that the patients died from their underlying medical conditions, not fentanyl.

After a lengthy trial that included testimony from medical experts, hospital staff, investigators, and victims’ families, a jury found William Husel not guilty on all charges on April 20, 2022.
Following the trial, Husel voluntarily surrendered his Ohio medical license, which was officially revoked in May 2022.
