Photos from Tiger Woods’ rollover crash on Friday, March 27, show the pro golfer’s vehicle on its side moments after the incident.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed via Facebook on Friday that Woods, 50, was involved in the crash that afternoon. The pro golfer was alone in the vehicle and not injured; however, he was charged with a DUI with property damage, Sheriff John M. Budensiek said during a press conference.
“Mr. Woods did not appear to be injured at all, and the other individual was not injured,” Budensiek said, referencing the driver of a pickup truck that was also involved in the incident. He added that Woods was “lethargic on scene because of what he was intoxicated on.”

He also confirmed that Woods had been “alone in the car” at the time of the accident, and said he was “not sure” if he was wearing a seatbelt during the crash.
Budensiek told reporters that Woods was placed under arrest after showing signs of “impairment.” The athlete passed a breathalyzer test, but refused to take a urinalysis that could test for the presence of other drugs or medications, the sheriff’s office said. He was taken to Martin County jail after the crash. His mugshot was released Friday evening and he has since been released from custody after being bonded out.
The Martin County Sheriff’s Office first confirmed the crash to ABC News.
Shortly before 2 p.m. local time, a pressure cleaner truck pulling a small trailer was heading northbound on South Beach Road and slowing down to turn into a driveway, Budensiek said in his news briefing.
The driver noticed a Land Rover “overtaking him at high speed,” and “tried to edge off to the side of the road, but this is a small two-lane road, and there was no shoulder for him to get off,” the sheriff said.

“As he was trying to move to the side, the Land Rover overtook him at the last minute, swerved to avoid a collision, but clipped the back end of the trailer,” Budensiek continued. The vehicle then “rolled onto the driver’s door north past the truck that had just avoided the crash.”
President Donald Trump also commented on Woods’ crash hours following the incident.
“I feel so badly,” Trump, 79, told reporters. “He’s got some difficulty. There was an accident and that’s all I know.”
The president, who presented Woods with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor, in May 2019, referred to the golf legend as a “very close friend of mine” and an “amazing person.”
“Amazing man,” Trump said, adding, “But some difficulty. I don’t want to talk about it.”
