A neighbor of the slain Ohio dentist and his wife called 911 to report a stranger banging on her door — just days before the couple were found dead.

Police were called to the house, just down the street from Spencer and Monique Tepe, at around 2:30 a.m. Dec. 19, after a terrified woman claimed someone was “smashing” at the front door of her Columbus home.

“Now they’re smashing on my door. I think they’re trying to get in. They’re banging on my doors,” the woman told 911 dispatchers, according to audio obtained by Fox News.

The woman said she was unable to provide a description of the would-be intruder, as she couldn’t see them.

“The problem left” at 2:44 a.m., according to dispatch logs, and police did not go to the house, which is just a three-minute walk from where the Tepes lived.

On the morning of Dec. 30, the bodies of Spencer and his wife were discovered in their four-bedroom home in the Weinland Park neighborhood north of downtown Columbus.

They had both been shot, but there were no signs of forced entry or robbery, and the couple’s children and pet dog were unharmed in the attack, which police say happened between 2 and 3 a.m.

No suspect has yet been named, but police on Monday released surveillance footage of a “person of interest” walking down an alley near the Tepes’ home in the early hours of Dec. 30.
