A glove with DNA found near Nancy Guthrie’s home has seemingly been tied to the subject pictured in previously released surveillance footage from the abduction site, according to the FBI.
The recovered glove “appears to match” the gloves worn by the “armed individual” pictured in Nest surveillance footage previously released by authorities, an FBI spokesperson said in a statement obtained by PEOPLE on Sunday, Feb. 15.
“The one with the DNA profile recovered is different and appears to match the gloves of the subject in the surveillance video,” the FBI spokesperson said.
The surveillance video refers to footage of a masked and “armed” person appearing to tamper with a Nest camera at Nancy’s front door on the morning of her kidnapping, which the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department (PCSD) jointly released on Feb. 10 in connection with the mother of three’s disappearance.

The glove the FBI deemed an apparent “match” with the video subject’s glove was discovered in a field by the side of the road about two miles from Nancy’s Tucson, Ariz., home, the FBI spokesperson said.
The spokesperson also said that the glove was one of “approximately” 16 that were collected near Nancy’s home, most of which were discarded by searchers.
The PCSD previously said that “several gloves” had been found during their investigation, and shut down reports that a glove was recovered inside Nancy’s home or on her property.
The new FBI statement appears to indicate that the suspected “match” is based on visual observation, rather than DNA, as the spokesperson also said that the bureau is still waiting on final forensic testing results.

The FBI received preliminary results from lab analysis conducted on all of the collected gloves on Saturday, Feb. 14, and is still awaiting official test results, which will then be run through a database, according to the agency spokesperson.
Nancy — who is the mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie — was last seen at her Tucson home on the night of Jan. 31. Her family reported her missing around noon on Feb. 1.
News of the glove “match” comes shortly after the PCSD announced that DNA evidence not belonging to Nancy Guthrie or her “close contacts” was found at her home. Additionally, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos previously said that blood was discovered on the exterior porch of Nancy’s home that matches her DNA.
In addition to the surveillance video, the FBI also provided additional details about the suspect seen in the footage on Thursday, Feb. 12.

“The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’9” – 5’10” tall, with an average build. In the video, he is wearing a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack,” the agency said.
The agency said it hopes that the details (which are based on the FBI’s Operational Technology Division’s “forensic analysis” of the previously obtained doorbell camera footage) will “help concentrate the public tips.”
The FBI is now offering a $100,000 reward for any information leading to Nancy’s recovery or an arrest in the case.
Anyone with tips or leads is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI in addition to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.
