Brian Hooker has spoken out about his wife’s disappearance following his release from police custody in the Bahamas.

Lynette Hooker has been missing since April 4, when police in the Bahamas said she “reportedly fell overboard” while on a dinghy with her husband.

In the aftermath of Lynette’s disappearance, police arrested Brian and held him for questioning, though he was released without charges after several days.

Still, police say they still consider Brian a suspect.

Following his release from custody, Brian spoke to NBC News about being questioned by police, and why he believes police still say he’s a suspect.

“I said I’d never harm Lynette and I never would harm Lynette and I want to find Lynette,” Brian told NBC, recalling his response when police asked if he had hurt his wife.

Brian further told NBC that he thinks police are looking at him as a suspect in part because of the media attention surrounding the case.

“It’s been 10 days, it’s been a long time, I don’t think I’ve ever been apart from her in 25 years for this long,” Brian said through tears.

Brian’s attorney, Terrel A. Davis, previously told PEOPLE in a statement that her client “categorically and unequivocally denies any wrongdoing.”

In a subsequent statement, Davis said Brian intends to keep searching for his wife.
