BREAKING NEWS from Nancy Guthrie: Search teams combing an AREA in Rio Rico, Arizona have FOUND a WOMAN’S SOCK located about 200 meters away from the central investigation point

Today co-anchor Savannah Guthrie‘s mom, Nancy Guthrie, remains missing after the 84-year-old was abducted from her Tucson, Ariz. home—and investigators are now searching a location in Rio Rico, Ariz.

On late Tuesday, Feb. 10, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI’s Evidence Response Team conducted a court-authorized search in Rio Rico, roughly 60 miles south of Tucson and just north of the Mexico border, CNN reported.

Police cordoned off a road, Camino Agosto, near Interstate 19, per CNN. The operation was expected to last for several hours.

During the search of the property, a woman named Josefina in Rio Rico told CNN that it is her home that law enforcement was scouring after they received a tip.

“They had somebody give a tip that the lady was in my house,” she said. “I told them you can go in and search my house, there is nobody there. I have nothing to hide.”

According to Josefina, law enforcement is investigating her son-in-law, who she said was detained. KOLD reported that the man detained is Carlos Palazuelos. “He had nothing to do with that,” she told CNN.

“I’m sorry what’s happened to (the Guthries),” she added. “I don’t know her, I don’t know anything about their lives or what’s going on, but I’m so sorry—whoever took her, I hope she got back safe.”

News of the execution of a search warrant in Rio Rico came on the heels of a person being detained for questioning following the release of photos and video footage of a potential suspect. It is unclear whether the detainee is the same man spotted in the images.

Late on Feb. 10, FBI Director Kash Patel also confirmed that multiple persons of interest are being investigated in relation to Nancy’s case.

On Feb. 1, the PCSD launched a search for Nancy, who was last seen on the evening of Jan. 31, at her home. The PCSD declared her residence a crime scene, determining that Nancy was “taken” from her residence “against her will.” Additionally, law enforcement confirmed that the blood discovered at the home belonged to her.

Investigators have since returned to Savannah’s mother’s Tucson home multiple times to search for evidence. A video of a vehicle of interest was submitted to law enforcement, in addition to agents finding a camera on the roof of Nancy’s home. The FBI added digital billboards across several states in hopes of obtaining more leads, too.

Meanwhile, multiple alleged ransom notes surfaced, and Nancy’s family sent several public video messages to the captors. A Feb. 7 video featured Savannah promising to pay the staggering ransom amount.

On Feb. 9, hours before a ransom deadline passed, Savannah posted an Instagram video thanking fans for prayers on behalf of herself and her siblings, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie.

“We believe our mom is still out there,” Savannah said. “We need your help. Law enforcement is working tirelessly around the clock, trying to bring her home, trying to find her. She was taken, and we don’t know where.”

The Today star concluded, “We are at an hour of desperation, and we need your help.”

The search for Nancy Guthrie, mother of TODAY show anchor Savannah Guthrie, has expanded into Texas with the FBI posting digital billboards seeking tips and offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to her recovery.

The search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of TODAY show anchor Savannah Guthrie, has expanded into Texas as investigators say time is critical.

According to federal authorities, the FBI will post digital billboards in Houston, Dallas, San Antonio and El Paso seeking tips in the case, which began after Nancy Guthrie was reported missing from her home in Tucson, Ariz., on Feb. 1.

The billboards will feature a photo of Nancy Guthrie, identifying information and an FBI tipline. They are offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to her recovery.

Investigators are also examining two ransom messages sent to media outlets demanding $6 million in Bitcoin, along with DNA evidence found outside Guthrie’s home that authorities say supports the belief she did not leave voluntarily.

During a recent news conference, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said “time is very critical.”

On Feb. 7, Savannah Guthrie posted a video on social media alongside her siblings directly pleasing for their mother’s safe return.

“We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her,” Savannah Guthrie said. “This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

The latest on the Nancy Guthrie investigation

Authorities say drops of Nancy Guthrie’s blood were found outside her home, and her cell phone is in police custody.

Investigators also say her physical limitations make it unlikely she left on her own, and she takes daily medication that she cannot go more than 24 hours without taking.
