Family members were left stunned when police revealed what was found in Conor Anderson’s pocket before his death; the three words on a note he left behind were haunting.

Anderson, 31, flagged down officers early Sunday in the East Nashville area. He told them he was in Nashville for work, had arrived a day early and was alone.

Anderson said he met a man at a bar and gave him money to show him around the area, but later walked away. An officer questioned whether Anderson may have been attempting to buy drugs. Anderson denied that.

“On my life, there was no intention of any drug transaction,” Anderson said.

Officers advised Anderson not to give money to strangers and encouraged him to take an Uber back to his hotel.

“This is my last stop,” Anderson told officers.

Below is part of the interaction between Anderson and officers:

Officer: “Were you trying to buy drugs?”

Anderson: “No, no. I was not.”

Officer: “You gave him 20 dollars, he ignored you and then you followed him outside, and then you gave him another 20 dollars, he ignored you and then left.”

Anderson: “I swear on my life that is not what happened.”

Officer: “Your story isn’t exactly making sense right now.”

Anderson: “On my life there was no intention of any drug transaction.”

Officer: “How did you get down here?”

Anderson: “I am here for work.”

Officer: “Do you have people you are here with?”

Anderson: “No, I arrived a day early. So, I am not here with anyone.”

Officer: “What do you need from us?”

Anderson: “Well, I feel like I was violated or taken advantage of.”

Officer: “Get home safely. Get an Uber.”

Anderson: “I am. This is my last stop.”
