The content creator’s sudden death was announced on April 12, just a week after her 31st birthday while on holiday.
Her family said the lifestyle influencer died during “what should have been one of the happiest trips of her life, a birthday celebration in Zanzibar, Africa.”
Her death was “suspicious,” they added, while describing themselves as “completely devastated.”
“Surrounded by beauty, love, and wildlife, she became engaged during a safari, an unforgettable moment that marked the start of a future she was so excited to build,” her family posted on Instagram on April 12.
“She and her fiancé, Joe McCann, were staying in a luxury villa at the Zuri Zanzibar, continuing what we believed was her dream trip.
“But just days later, that dream turned into our family’s worst nightmare. Ashly was found unconscious in her villa and was rushed to a local hospital, where her death was confirmed hours later.”
They told TMZ that it was difficult to get answers as her fiancé was not currently communicating with them.
Joe McCann is a founder of cryptocurrency fund Asymmetric Financial.

The U.S. Sun was unable to contact him for comment on the woman’s death.
Ashly’s family has also sought CCTV footage from the hotel – so far to no avail.
“The suddenness, the unanswered questions, and the distance from home have made this tragedy even more overwhelming for our family,” her relatives added on Instagram.

“She was loved. She was not just going to be discarded and forgotten about,” her mother, Yolanda Denise Endres, told ABC affiliate WPVI.
She told the broadcaster that the South Jersey woman’s death occurred when Ashly “was starting the next chapter of her life.”
Her daughter was found dead four days after she had called her mom to say that she and her fiancé had argued and were staying in separate rooms at the hotel.
A hospital gave her cause of death as cerebral hypoxia by strangulation and suffocation.
“She’s never done anything that would ever ever lead me to believe that she would do something to harm herself like that. She was happy,” Endres added.
The U.S. Sun has contacted the US Embassy in Tanzania for comment.
