The musician known as D4vd has been named a target of a grand jury investigation in connection with the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who was found inside the front trunk of the singer’s Tesla.

D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, emerged as a suspect after the teen’s remains were discovered Sept. 8, 2025, inside a black Tesla Model X that had been impounded in the Hollywood Hills.

No charges have been filed against the singer.

Since last November, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office has been presenting evidence to a grand jury at the Los Angeles Superior Court, the Los Angeles Times reported.

According to a petition for attendance of an out-of-state witness, a prosecutor said D4vd “may be involved in the death of 14-year-old victim Celeste Rivas Hernandez, who may have been a victim of foul play.”

The petition refers to D4vd as a “target” of the grand jury investigation.

Rivas Hernandez’s “severely decomposed, dismembered body” was found around 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 8 after the manager of a Hollywood tow company contacted the LAPD, prosecutors said in the petition.

The manager informed police that the Tesla had been impounded three days earlier on Sept. 5, and that there “was a strong smell of decay coming from the vehicle which was attracting flies,” per the petition.

After obtaining a search warrant, officers opened the front trunk and found a “black cadaver bag covered with insects and a strong odor of decay,” according to the petition.

“Utilizing black latex gloves, detectives partially unzipped the bag and observed a decomposed head and torso,” per the petition.

Investigators and criminalists from the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner were called to the scene.

“Upon removing the cadaver bag from the front storage compartment, it was discovered the arms and legs had been severed from the body,” states the petition. “A second black bag was discovered underneath the cadaver bag. Upon opening the second bag, the dismembered body parts were discovered.”

A citizen first reported the Tesla abandoned on Bluebird Street on Aug. 26.

According to the petition, D4vd was on tour at the time the vehicle was impounded.

In November, a police source exclusively told PEOPLE that the musician was “not cooperating” with authorities and had not cooperated from the beginning of the investigation.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office declined comment on the petition.
